Determination......

In 1883, a creative engineer named John Roebling was inspired by an idea to build a spectacular bridge connecting New York with the Long Island. However bridge building experts throughout the world thought that this was an impossible feat and told Roebling to forget the idea. It just could not be done. It was not practical. It had never been done before.

Roebling could not ignore the vision he had in his mind of this bridge. He thought about it all the time and he knew deep in his heart that it could be done. He just had to share the dream with someone else. After much discussion and persuasion he managed to convince his son Washington, an up and coming engineer, that the bridge in fact could be built.

Working together for the first time, the father and son developed concepts of how it could be accomplished and how the obstacles could be overcome. With great excitement and inspiration, and the headiness of a wild challenge before them, they hired their crew and began to build their dream bridge.

The project started well, but when it was only a few months underway a tragic accident on the site took the life of John Roebling. Washington was injured and left with a certain amount of brain damage, which resulted in him not being able to walk or talk or even move.

"We told them so."
"Crazy men and their crazy dreams."
"It`s foolish to chase wild visions."

Everyone had a negative comment to make and felt that the project should be scrapped since the Roeblings were the only ones who knew how the bridge could be built. In spite of his handicap Washington was never discouraged and still had a burning desire to complete the bridge and his mind was still as sharp as ever.

He tried to inspire and pass on his enthusiasm to some of his friends, but they were too daunted by the task. As he lay on his bed in his hospital room, with the sunlight streaming through the windows, a gentle breeze blew the flimsy white curtains apart and he was able to see the sky and the tops of the trees outside for just a moment.

It seemed that there was a message for him not to give up. Suddenly an idea hit him. All he could do was move one finger and he decided to make the best use of it. By moving this, he slowly developed a code of communication with his wife.

He touched his wife's arm with that finger, indicating to her that he wanted her to call the engineers again. Then he used the same method of tapping her arm to tell the engineers what to do. It seemed foolish but the project was under way again.

For 13 years Washington tapped out his instructions with his finger on his wife's arm, until the bridge was finally completed. Today the spectacular Brooklyn Bridge stands in all its glory as a tribute to the triumph of one man's indomitable spirit and his determination not to be defeated by circumstances. It is also a tribute to the engineers and their team work, and to their faith in a man who was considered mad by half the world. It stands too as a tangible monument to the love and devotion of his wife who for 13 long years patiently decoded the messages of her husband and told the engineers what to do.

Perhaps this is one of the best examples of a never-say-die attitude that overcomes a terrible physical handicap and achieves an impossible goal.

Often when we face obstacles in our day-to-day life, our hurdles seem very small in comparison to what many others have to face. The Brooklyn Bridge shows us that dreams that seem impossible can be realised with determination and persistence, no matter what the odds are.

Even the most distant dream can be realized with determination and persistence.
So, ask yourself what is stoping you from your dream? Don't worry what people around you say, what is the most important thing is...What your heart says... Trust your inner voice.

Ways to handle STRESS.....

Stress out is something very common in ones life. I'm sure very one had been stressed out, and if someone is proudly saying tht he /she never been stressed out.... watchout him/her, they are GREAT LIERS!!!! Alrite, the issue is how to handle it? Like it or not, we hv to go through it, so lets face it in a more matured way.

Unmatured ways of handling stress, ('' I think''):
1. Shout and yell at everyone.
2. Sit and cry in toilets ( until a long queue waits outside)
3. Quarel with siblings for silly things.
4. Speed on roads.
5. Cursing all the drivers on the road.... especially the car infront of urs ( some even worst, they will just overtake and show vulgar sign).
6. Keep complaining about others ( as those the whole world is taking revenge on him)

MY ways of handling stress:
1. Try to think positive ( ya.... i know it is not easy but it help to save the condition).
2. Eat......... especially chocolate ( although u gain weight, but still, u can reduce ur stress... u lost something, to gain something:)) ha..ha..ha..).
3. Listen to music.... a good ones, not the one which can make ur head spin.
4. Watch funny videos in YOUTUBE.
5. Sleep...( i know it is difficult to shut ur mind when ur stress, ur subconscious mind will keep thinking about the incident tht make u stress, BUT give a try.... TRY ur Best to SLEEP).
6. Analyse about the condition so it won't repeat again.
7. Wash dishes. ( Trust me, this really helps me a lot. Whenever i'm stressed in lab, i will quickly go into washing room and wash all the glass beaker and lab equipment.)
8. Write blog just like what i'm doing now (don't care whether others are reading or not, just write to release tension..ha..ha..ha..)

Basically, everyone has their own way of handling stress. Watever way is it, just do it. It is better for urs to control the stress rather thn letting it to control us. And for women, it is absolutely OK to cry... but don't cry too much laa. Get rid off the tears, and figure out how to solve the problem. Don't use tears to win a situation, PLS use brains. Solution is more important than emotion.

AGE IS JUST NUMBER......:)

I have successfully celebrated quarter of century this year. Happy coz had been in this beatiful world for 25 years already but at the same time sad coz i'm getting old. u know....women's fear of getting old; wrinkles around the eyes, dry skin, monopause, white hairs, teeth drops....ussshhhh.... cann't imagine. The worst quote describing women's age is " Men's life starts at 40, while Women's expire at the age of 40". Arghhhhhhh................

But this is not i want for sure. I want to have a graceful aging. Do u know wat is meaning of graceful aging.....? Graceful ageing means for a beautiful and soothing proceess of aging. We will accept the truth we r getting old and take the process easily and comfortable. It also means that u will be in the mood of steady and calm.
Complicating?.... ok let me put it simple so tht everyone will hv a picture of wat is graceful aging.

'Have u seen, old lady taking her morning walk in the park at 7am? She will smile and greet everyone who passes by her, her face will be looking calm and just like in deep thought. If u ask her what she wants, her answer will be simple. She will ask for happiness of her family. She will reply, " I'm old ready, i don't want anything, i'm waiting for my time to go back to GOD"..., ths is an example of graceful ageing'.

Old age people who lead life without depending on others, who can show unconditional love to everyone (including their daughter in law), who give advise wisely, who teach the whole family the meaning of cultures and tradision are the one having graceful ageing. If i were given a chance to lead another 25 years in my life(i will be 50 years old then).., i wish i will lead my golden age with gracefully.

How to attained these graceful ageing? It is simple. Gain knowledge as much as u can. Don't close the door of learning in ur life coz learning is a life long process. Spend your time, reading good books. Reading books is much much better than watching tv serial at the old age. Old age is beatifull period in our life, where we were given temporary visa by GOD to make unperfect life to be little more perfect. Once the call from GOD arrived, you have to leave the world no matter what happen. It is just like, the climax of movie, the value of the whole movie is condensed more to last chapther. Old age is also like the last chapter of our life story. Treasure it.

Smile.....

Smile......... I was very impressed to see this video. Suddenly, feel like 1000 watt bulb was turn on me. I did nothing...just smile heart fully. A smile costs nothing but gives much. It enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he cannot get along without it and none is so poor that he cannot be made rich by it. Yet a smile cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that is of no value to anyone until it is given away. Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give.

So....smile..........................."eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...."

Unpost letter to Appa:)

I'm still in the lab, having a short break while enjoying a cup of coffee. Too tired ( a lot of work today, still have dozens more). I'm too into the mood of writing. Father's Day is just around the corner, to be precise; 3 days more. I got no idea what to get for him as gift. I feel i'm going to tribute this blog for him although he is not going to read it anyway.
Appa is not internet friendly person... haa.haa.haaa...:).

Appa,
I really love u so much. Sometimes i am so proud tht i belongs to u. U are so different from my friend's father. The way u take care of me is very special. This make me to be a very obedient daughter. U hav been so good to me until i feel tht no one in this world can treat me like how u do. U are very special person, paa.

U are man behind my success. I still remember, it was PMR result. U was so happy tht i scored well. At tht time, amma questioned u, what would u do if your daughter wants to go oversea to pursuit her studies, do u have enough savings? I looked at u eagerly for reply. U smile at me widely and say u would sell off ur kidney for me. All of us burst into laugh. I laughed loud until tears drop. Paa, actually my tears dropped not because of ur joke but i felt touch. I sensed your divine love towards me. Although this happen 10 years ago, but it still fresh in my memory. Even my tears is falling down while i'm writing this blog. Hmmmm.... ok i hope can control the emotions ( hope my labmates doesn't sense tht the girl in labcoat is wiping her tears in her labcoat).

Appa, u are a simple person. When other fathers buy luxurious things for their daughter, u thought me how to safe money and know the value of money. U didn't provide all the expensive stuff for me..but u showered me with all your love. I feel your love is more valuable than this material things. Things may disappear in time but not your love paa. Your love and blessing will be with me forever.

I'm very proud to say that i'm a daughter of a bus driver. I really admire the way U brought up ur children. U try your best to provide us everything from your little salary. I salute you, Paa.
I love the way u always celebrate my birthday. It was when i was in Form 5, U didn't wish me at sharp 12am. I was like other pupil, get into the bus at 7.10am for school. Suddenly u turned back and pass me a plastic bag. It contained my favorite Cadbury chocolate and a tin of FOX sweet. U forced me to go around in the bus to pass the sweets to other pupils. I was so shy. I can never forget to way u promote my Birthday to rest of the school bus passenger. U request them to sing Birthday song for me in the bus. Paa, U are so cute. U always forget that i'm getting old.

Oshh....time is passing very fast when i'm writing about you, Paa. It is like nostaligia. I hope i can continue writing about U, but so sad. My resting period is over. Work load a lott.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mhVnsP7qcQ (PLs click this..:))

Love u, Paa.

Yours 25 years old baby,
REVATHEE:)

Laughter the best medicine..:)

Physics Teacher: Isaac Newton was sitting under a tree when an apple fell on his head and he discovered gravity. Isn’t that wonderful?
Student: Yes sir, if he had been sitting in class looking at books like us, he wouldn’t have discovered anything.

Two factory workers are talking.
Woman: I can make the boss give me the day off.
Man: And how would you do that?
Woman: “Just wait and see.” She then hangs upside-down from the ceiling. Boss comes in: What are you doing?
Woman: I’m a light bulb.
Boss: You’ve been working so much that you’ve gone crazy. I think you need to take the day off.
The man starts to follow her and the boss says: Where are you going? The man says: I’m going home, too. I can’t work in the dark.

A man is talking to God.
The man: God, how long is a million years?
God: To me, it’s about a minute.
The man: God, how much is a million dollars?
God: To me it’s a penny.
The man: God, may I have a penny?God: Wait a minute.

A little girl came home from school and said to her mother, “Mommy, today in school I was punished for something that I didn’t do.”The mother exclaimed, “But that’s terrible! I’m going to have a talk with your teacher about this … by the way, what was it that you didn’t do?”
The little girl replied, “My homework.”

The students were lined up in the cafeteria for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray: “Take only ONE. God is watching.”
Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies. A child had written a note, “Take all you want. God is watching the apples.”

Teacher: Why are you late, Joseph?
Joseph: Because of a sign down the road.
Teacher: What does a sign have to do with your being late?
Joseph: The sign said, “School Ahead, Go Slow!”

The teacher of the earth science class was lecturing on map reading.
After explaining about latitude, longitude, degrees and minutes the teacher asked, “Suppose I asked you to meet me for lunch at 23 degrees, 4 minutes north latitude and 45 degrees, 15 minutes east longitude…?”
After a confused silence, a voice volunteered, “I guess you’d be eating alone.”

“Isn’t the principal a dummy!” said a boy to a girl.“Well, do you know who I am?” asked the girl.“No.” replied the boy.“I’m the principal’s daughter.” said the girl.“And do you know who I am?” asked the boy.“No,” she replied.“Thank goodness!” said the boy with a sign of relief.

Teacher asked George: how can you prove the earth is round?
George replied: I can’t. Besides, I never said it was.

When u meet failure, it doesn't mean God is punishing u... but he is trying to mould to realise him and pull u close..

So long i did not write blogs. But i make a point to write this time, this is the only tool i use to let go my stress and disappointment. I don't care whether people r going to read or not, but the most important thing is i feel better aft writing it.. Hee..hee.heee:)

Recently, things are not happening according to wat i hv plan. Although many says, this is wat people call research all about. I still couldn't take it.

I'm putting blame on myself wen things r not happening acording wat hv planned. The truth is i don't hv much time. I need to hv result on my experiment.

At many times, i try to think positive, but certain time i am down too. One thing for sure, all this hard time is making me to be a more strong person. Oh God!! Pls show compassion on me.
