Navarathiri....

Navarathiri just over. Yesterday was the 'Vijaya Dashami'. This pooja will be celebrated for 9 days and the 10th day will the "Vijaya Dashami".
I love everything about " Navarathiri"....... The celebration itself is so happening....temples will be decorated with neon bulbs, a lot of people in the temple, young cute girls wearing "pavada dress" and running around the temple, loud devotional songs playing in the temple, the colourful rangoli kolam in front of temples, beautiful decorated 'gollu' and of course the night food( prasadam ).
( Rangoli kolam)

( "Gollu")

The most intresting part of these pooja is the" Saraswathy Pooja". It is so cute to see the school children carry their text book to temple and arrange them neatly in of the Goddess Statue. They will close their eyes tight and make their long wish. Every year, the issue tht arises here is about the LOST BOOK... children sometimes forget to take back their books or accidentally brings back someone else book. Pity on the Gurukal and temple committee member's, they hv to keep remind the children about the books.
On the 10th day, it is believe tht the God had destroy the evil power (Mahisasuravarthan). The point to learn here is tht celebration is not just to enjoy. We should know how to implement tht in our life too. Navarathri celebration's motive is to cleanse our self from negative thoughts, action and intention. Hmmm.... i hope tht the negative values in me will be also destroyed. I hope to start a brand new life with positive attitude...no more lazziness...no more anger...
Navarathiri pooja is very close to my heart. I miss those days..where; i and my sister really look forward for Navarathri. We used to sing Classical song in the temple during Navarathri. I think we would be actively going for practice 1 month before the occasion. And both of us would be fighting to get new " pavada dress". It was so special kind of feeling when u wear your new 'pavada dress", siting right infront of God statue, and sing varanam. People patiently sit and listen to your song. A good experience for both of us.
